This week's hot topic π₯
This week we're talking about what happens when you ignore your body's signals for too long.
Hey Reader
Your body doesn't forget.
Every time you override the exhaustion and push through anyway. Every boundary you didn't set because it would be awkward. Every moment you swallowed your anger or your hurt or your frustration to keep the peace.
Your body kept track of all of it.
And eventually, it presents the bill.
The body keeps the score
This isn't just a catchy phrase. It's literally what happens.
Your nervous system logs every unprocessed stress response. Every time you went into fight-or-flight and never came back down. Every conversation where you smiled through gritted teeth whilst your stomach was in knots.
That tension doesn't just disappear because you moved on with your day. It gets stored. In your jaw, your shoulders, your digestive system, your sleep patterns.
And it accumulates.
Until one day you wake up with chronic headaches, or your digestion is a mess, or you can't sleep even when you're exhausted, or your chest feels tight for no apparent reason.
That's not random. That's your body presenting the invoice for all the times you told it to be quiet.
What the symptoms are actually saying
The headaches aren't just headaches. They're "you've been clenching your jaw through every difficult conversation for months."
The insomnia isn't just insomnia. It's "your nervous system doesn't believe it's safe to rest."
The digestive issues aren't just digestive issues. They're "you've been swallowing things you should have said out loud."
The exhaustion that won't lift isn't laziness. It's "you've been running on adrenaline for so long that your system is shutting down to protect you."
Your body isn't betraying you. It's trying to save you from yourself.
Why we ignore it for so long
Because acknowledging what your body is telling you means admitting that something fundamental needs to change.
Not just adding a yoga class or drinking more water. Not just "managing stress better."
It means looking at the job that's draining you, the relationship where you can't be yourself, the people-pleasing pattern that's running your life, the boundaries you're not setting, the life you've built that doesn't actually fit who you are.
And that feels overwhelming. So you keep ignoring the signals and hoping they'll go away.
But they don't go away. They get louder.
What happens when you finally listen
You stop treating your body like an inconvenience and start treating it like information.
You ask: What is this symptom trying to protect me from? What conversation am I avoiding? What boundary needs to be set? What part of my life is fundamentally unsustainable?
And then you do the uncomfortable work of actually changing it. Not managing it, changing it.
That's when the symptoms start to shift. Not because you found the right supplement or the perfect morning routine, but because you stopped forcing your body to carry what your life refuses to address.
If your body is screaming...
If you're dealing with chronic symptoms that won't shift no matter what you try. If you know deep down that your body is telling you something needs to change. If you're ready to actually listen instead of just managing the fallout.
This is the work we do in coaching - not just understanding what your body is saying, but creating the actual changes that let it finally relax.
Book a Pathfinder Call and let's talk about what your body has been trying to tell you.
Or download the Root & Rise app for the Burnout to Brilliance course that walks you through the neurobiology of stress, how your nervous system actually works, and what to do when your body is keeping score.
With care,
Aimee
P.S. - Your body isn't broken. It's just tired of being ignored.
