This week's hot topic πŸ”₯

This week we're talking about why rest stops feeling like rest.

Hey Reader,

It goes a little something like this. l

You had the whole weekend. No plans, no obligations. You slept in. You lay on the sofa. You didn't look at your emails. And by Sunday evening you still felt like you hadn't moved.

When rest stops working

Most of us have been told that rest is the antidote to burnout. So you take the weekend off, you do nothing, and you wait to feel better.

But when you're deep in it, rest doesn't land the way it should. Your body stays alert. Your mind keeps running. You lie still and somehow still feel exhausted. And then you add a new worry on top of the original one: why isn't this working?

Here's what's actually happening.

The bit nobody tells you

Rest doesn't restore a nervous system that doesn't feel safe. When your body has been in a prolonged stress response - the kind that comes from months or years of high-functioning, high-pressure, high-output living - it doesn't automatically switch off because you stopped doing things.

It stays braced. Ready for the next thing. Because that's what it learned to do.

Lying on the sofa isn't the same as your system believing it's safe to stop. And until your nervous system gets that message, passive rest will keep failing you. Not because you're doing it wrong. Because it's not what your body actually needs.

The question worth asking

Most of the women I work with have spent years asking "am I resting enough?" What they haven't been asked is: "does my body actually feel safe enough to receive it?"

Those are very different questions. And the second one changes everything.

If rest keeps failing you, it's not a willpower problem. It's not that you need a longer holiday or a better sleep routine. It's that something deeper needs to shift first.

That's workable. But it requires a different kind of approach.

If you're ready to understand what's actually going on in your body and where to start, book a Pathfinder Call and let's talk through it together.

Or if you want to start exploring on your own, the Nervous System Report inside The Glow Zone will give you a clear picture of where you are and what your body needs to actually recover.

With care,

Aimee
