This week's hot topic π₯
This week we're talking about the south downs and love bombing my new village.
Hey Reader
After a little break, we're back.
What's new?
I took a holiday. A proper one. It was delicious.
I put on weight. Probably. IDK. I haven't check. Also delicious.
Oh...
And I moved to a new county, where I don't know ANYONE. To a house that needs a lot of TLC and has a precariously small driveway which I am yet to attempt driving down. Nervy. And these kinds of life changes have the potential to make you question everything, lock yourself away, and hope things come to you.
Not this time.
So what have I done? Thrown myself at people. Literally.
It's been 5 days and I've met Emma who runs the delicatessen, and was born in the town I used to live in. Wild.
Leila the greengrocer who grows all her own flowers too and is delightful.
Dan and Tom from the pub behind my house who are the friendliest people ever.
And a bunch of great neighbours, including Eddy who has invited us over for dinner on Saturday. He's mocked up a menu, and he's making Tacos. BABE.
So when I say I don't know anyone, that's the biggest lie ever. It just so happens I think we've moved to the friendliest little village to exist in West Sussex, and damnnnnn am I happy about it.
We've taken our child away from everything she knew in her earliest years and plonked her in something brand new. And do you know what my highlight is? Just how resilient she is. She started a new school today and took to it like a champ. All the guilt I put on myself for making the decision to move has evaporated. Because I know we did the right thing. I feel it in my bones. When I go for my walks and I look at the South Downs I feel a tug of connection. Like we're supposed to be here. And by all accounts this little village crept up on us last year when we were thinking about places we could go.
What you seek might really be seeking you after all (Rumi)
I'm yet to try driving here though. That's next week ;)
With care,
Aimee
